Ever have one of those weeks where you look up and it is Friday, and you wonder where the days have gone? Well, that was definitely our week this week. The kids arrived home safely from Camp Cape and we hit the ground running on Sunday with softball practice. Thanks again Nana and Papa for the memories, and thanks to Buddo and Deidre for the sleepover on Saturday night! G and J cannot wait to return to see ALL of the cousins next weekend for Easter. Cousins - if you are reading this, bring your swimsuits and softball equipment for a game!
Softball update...after one practice, Toni(head coach and neighbor) and I are feeling pretty positive about our team this year. We were able to carry 6 pre-picks in this league - all girls we have played with before or that we know from other sports to be good athletes. I recruited one girl from Gracie's basketball team. Fielding looks better than hitting at this point, but we will find our 'bats' soon enough. Our big focus is on pitching. Right now, our rotation consists of Madison, Adrianna, and Gracie. And no, Mom, and have NOT told Gracie to 'think about it" on the mound...yet. Jack was supposed to have his first practice last night, but it got rained out. He has been practicing his batting with Pete at the park. When he connects, he really sends it!
Other sports...Monday night, G was back in the pool. Tuesday was her first game in a city-wide elementary school basketball tournament this week. The teams were made up from the different schools, so she and Madison got to play together on the Woodrow Cummins 4th grade girls team. Tuesday's game was a loss, but G was able to play center and scored 6 points for our team...and...two points for the OTHER team on a sweet outside shot that was nothing but net, when she forgot we switched sides after the half. But it WAS a sweet shot. Second game in the loser's bracket was Wednesday night at UCA. Yes, they got to play on the big Farris Center Bears court at the university - the same place where we watched the Bears basketball game with Nate and Matt and Johnny at Christmas! The girls were pretty pumped, but they lost again, so that ended their play. Thursday - back in the pool, Friday night, back in the pool.
Violin update...Jack had an awesome lesson on Tuesday and he won two suckers from his teacher. He also, for the first time, participated in the group lesson Wednesday and did super!
This weekend...Easter egg stuffing for our church egg hunt, haircuts, each of the kids has a birthday party to attend, and softball on Sunday.
Other family shout-outs...to my adorable nephew Russie - Happy Birthday on April 4th! To my precious daughter Gracie who officially became a Jesus girl 10 years ago on April 4th! To our favorite Uncle Freddy - Happy Birthday on April 5th! To my fabulous sister in law Terri - Happy Birthday on April 10th!
Looking forward to Easter...Denise
