BIG DAY
Today is Jack's graduation from preschool! The ceremony starts at 7:00 on UCA's campus in Waldron Hall. He is so very excited! His choice of future career this time was a costume designer of play clothes, so he is wearing a white shirt, black pants, dress shoes, yellow tape measure around his neck, wrist pin cushion, and two costumes draped over his arm. What a hoot! I will post pictures as soon as I can.
And, at the same time tonight, is Gray's first softball game. We have our regular scheduling nightmare! I will get to see the first 20 minutes of the game (Gray is our starting pitcher tonight), then leave to go to graduation, since Jack has to be there early. Pete and Gray will have to leave the game early to get to graduation. Needless to say, I am selfishly hoping for a rainout, and we just might get it.
Check back tomorrow...D

Bravo, Jackson Karl!
And here it is, the UCA Community School of Music Suzuki Spring 2009 Concert. Click on video to see our very own Jackson Karl in action on his duet with his teacher, Mr. Mike. He actually got confused and played a different song than they had practiced together, but he just kept going. We are SO proud of him!

Cross Your Fingers...
...I think I have squeaky Pete finally convinced to part with some his $$ and purchase a camcorder. Jack's violin recital is tomorrow, and if he does what his teacher is expecting him to do, I would LOVE to capture it on film and post it on this site for all to enjoy. Gracie just hopes she doesn't "get all dressed up for nuthin' " again.
Good luck, Jacky! Break a...string?

Still no flowers..
...but the rain did stop, and I think we will have nice and sunny weather this week! We need for the ball fields to dry out. Gracie had to pitch short yesterday due to the pitcher's mound being a huge puddle. Busy week this week...swimming, violin prep for recital, softball practices, the usual!

Another Rainy Day...
...here in Conway. I don't think I will EVER get any flowers planted in the front beds. We are getting ready to go to a baby shower for our friends Todd and Heather Fulmer (third kid, it's a girl - Kaylan) and then off to the Conway Symphony Orchestra concert after that. Jack has a violin recital coming up next weekend. We are hoping he will 'brave up' and do this one! His teacher has him doing a solo piece, group piece, and a duet with just him. I will try and get some video of it and load on here for all to see. Keep your fingers crossed...I am thinking of bribes.

I HAVE COMMENTS!
Yea, I love when I get comments! Mom and Dad - thanks for hosting the weekend eggstravaganza! We had a great time also, just too short, as usual! Den and Dee - thanks for the free hotel stay. Yes, I think my dress is in the boy's closet, and yes, Gracie found her $$. Jack told our neighbors yesterday that the Easter bunny pooped on his cousins floor. Benchmark testing is under way for Gracie - con, tests all day. Pro, no homework all week, daily snacks, and extra recess! I decided to bring home a cold with me, so I am befriending the Claritin and Kleenex today. Doug and Terri - hope you got home safely. It was great to see you guys! Emma - you tied Matty for Jack's vote for favorite Easter trip cousin. Ben - send me some more phat lingo to use on my interns please.
Nana and Papa Beach - thanks for the yummy cookies! I need that recipe!
Enjoy the pics...Easter weekend was beast...D

I'm Baaaack...
Ever have one of those weeks where you look up and it is Friday, and you wonder where the days have gone? Well, that was definitely our week this week. The kids arrived home safely from Camp Cape and we hit the ground running on Sunday with softball practice. Thanks again Nana and Papa for the memories, and thanks to Buddo and Deidre for the sleepover on Saturday night! G and J cannot wait to return to see ALL of the cousins next weekend for Easter. Cousins - if you are reading this, bring your swimsuits and softball equipment for a game!
Softball update...after one practice, Toni(head coach and neighbor) and I are feeling pretty positive about our team this year. We were able to carry 6 pre-picks in this league - all girls we have played with before or that we know from other sports to be good athletes. I recruited one girl from Gracie's basketball team. Fielding looks better than hitting at this point, but we will find our 'bats' soon enough. Our big focus is on pitching. Right now, our rotation consists of Madison, Adrianna, and Gracie. And no, Mom, and have NOT told Gracie to 'think about it" on the mound...yet. Jack was supposed to have his first practice last night, but it got rained out. He has been practicing his batting with Pete at the park. When he connects, he really sends it!
Other sports...Monday night, G was back in the pool. Tuesday was her first game in a city-wide elementary school basketball tournament this week. The teams were made up from the different schools, so she and Madison got to play together on the Woodrow Cummins 4th grade girls team. Tuesday's game was a loss, but G was able to play center and scored 6 points for our team...and...two points for the OTHER team on a sweet outside shot that was nothing but net, when she forgot we switched sides after the half. But it WAS a sweet shot. Second game in the loser's bracket was Wednesday night at UCA. Yes, they got to play on the big Farris Center Bears court at the university - the same place where we watched the Bears basketball game with Nate and Matt and Johnny at Christmas! The girls were pretty pumped, but they lost again, so that ended their play. Thursday - back in the pool, Friday night, back in the pool.
Violin update...Jack had an awesome lesson on Tuesday and he won two suckers from his teacher. He also, for the first time, participated in the group lesson Wednesday and did super!
This weekend...Easter egg stuffing for our church egg hunt, haircuts, each of the kids has a birthday party to attend, and softball on Sunday.
Other family shout-outs...to my adorable nephew Russie - Happy Birthday on April 4th! To my precious daughter Gracie who officially became a Jesus girl 10 years ago on April 4th! To our favorite Uncle Freddy - Happy Birthday on April 5th! To my fabulous sister in law Terri - Happy Birthday on April 10th!
Looking forward to Easter...Denise
